Hey, I live in Australia but I was in KL last week. I have a malay friend that lives in Johor Bahru. he tells me that you dont need a visa. you just go through and they stamp your passport.

i was on a bus myself through the singapor/JB border.it was very simple and easy, no trouble to get through at all
